Yuheng Chen – Composer, Pianist, and Contemporary Arts Event Organizer. Born in 1998 in Jinan, China, he has been based in Vienna, Austria since 2014, where he has studied Piano and has been studying Composition with Karlheinz Essl (Electroacoustic), Michael Jarrell and Clara Iannotta. Chen’s works have been performed by such diverse Orchestra and ensembles as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Appassionato Ensemble, Mdi Ensemble, Ensemble Platypus, Schallfeld Ensemble, among numerous others. In 2019, his Vokal Oktett piece was performed at the festival WIEN MODERN in Vienna. In 2023, Chen was the 3rd prize winner the “Toru Takemitsu Composition Award 2023”. In the same year, he was the 1st Prize winner of “Concorso Internazionale di Composizione Appassionato Ensemble 2023” composition competition organized by the Polifonie Cultural Association in Italy.He is active in numerous European music festivals, such as Mixtur festival(Spain), Impuls festival(Austria), Project “next generation”of Donaueschingen Musiktage(German). He has also attended composer masterclasses and individual composition lesson held by composers such as Mochizuki Misato, Olga Neuwirth, Ying Wang and Franck Bedrossian.

We would like to inform you the result of the 46th Irino Prize, 2023.
The Selection Committee has been held on 24 November , 2023 at the NPO JML Yoshiro Irino Music Institute Tokyo.
Total of Entries:52 compositions from 20 countries
Award: 200,000 Japanese yen
Jury of this year: Takayuki RAI(Chair), Satoshi TANAKA, Mari TAKANO, Haruyuki SUZUKI, Rica NARIMOTO, and Cort Lippe(Special Jury)
